Songs about ADHD!

I’ve always dreamed of playing an instrument and making my own music. Growing up, I was surrounded by musicians. Both my brothers and my best friends formed rock and roll bands when we were younger.

I don’t blame my ADHD for not having learned to play—there’s always time to pick up something new, even at 45, like me now. But I can see how my tendency to drift away from learning an instrument might connect to ADHD somehow.

So here we are in 2024, and I’ve found a tool that generates music automatically.

It’ll never replace real bands and singers, and that’s not even the point!

These tracks below are the result of one of my recent hyperfocus phases, experimenting with Suno.ai

The theme? ADHD of course.

Feel free to judge it, but please don’t take it seriously, it’s just for fun. Feel absolutely free to love it or hate it!!!!

1. ADHD Rhapsody

It’s in my head, I try to wait,
But thoughts rush in, the urge won’t fade.
I know it’s wrong to cut right through,
Yet words just spill, they race to you.

ADHD, the struggle’s real,
I try to pause, the thoughts I feel.
They slip right out, no time to choose,
A battle that I always lose.

I watch your face, I see the glance,
Still can't resist, don’t stand a chance.
My mind's a storm, no space to rest,
The words come out; I try my best.

ADHD, the struggle’s real,
I try to pause, the thoughts I feel.
They slip right out, no time to choose,
A battle that I always lose.

If patience came like waves to me,
I’d ride them out, I’d let you be.
But here I am, it’s just my way,
Blurting out things I need to say.

ADHD, the struggle’s real,
I try to pause, the thoughts I feel.
They slip right out, no time to choose,
A battle that I always lose.

Maybe one day, I’ll find the key,
To hold my thoughts and set them free.

2. Never Get It Done

My mind's a pinball in a neon arcade
Chasing lights and sounds it never fades
Counting raindrops in a hurricane
Eyes like kaleidoscopes going insane

Thoughts like fireflies in a glass jar
Flickerin' on and off you're never far
Trying to catch 'em all but they slip away
One moment I'm here next I'm far away

Focus on everything nothing at all
Climbing up hills just to take a fall
Like a rocket without any launch control
I'm spinning circles can't find my role

Lost in a puzzle that I can't solve
Steps forward but I can't evolve
Juggling moments until they collide
Running a race with no finish line

Inside my head it's a carnival ride
No steady track just a wild
Wild tide
Lights and whispers pulling me apart
It's chaos in here yet a work of art

Focus on everything nothing at all
Climbing up hills just to take a fall
Like a rocket without any launch control
I'm spinning circles can't find my role

3. Alex D.

Alex D. sat down with good intent,
Five hours planned that would be well spent.
With deadlines near, they couldn’t delay,
This was the time to focus, they’d say.

Setting the mood for concentration,
Alex D. falls to procrastination.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, so close,
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, who knows?

Alex D. opens the playlist tab,
Scrolling through genres, each song’s a grab.
Finding the tunes that could make them flow,
Just one more song, and then they’ll go.

Then came a snack break to feed their drive,
Certain it all could wrap up by five.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, it’s near,
Na, na, na, na, na, na, don’t fear.

“Alex D., what’s your real aim here?
Face down that task, no snack and cheer.”

“Oh, dear friend, why can’t you see?
It’s just that work needs a melody!
A playlist strong and a snack, so key.”

“Well, Alex D., it’s a classic sign,
Procrastination’s a steep decline.
Better jump in before it’s too late,
Or you’ll be drowning in that due date.”

Na, na, na, na, na, na, no sweat,
Na, na, na, na, na, na, not yet.

Midnight struck, and the deadline drew near,
The task untouched, just a growing fear.
Now it’s too late, no playlist, no snack,
Guess who’s up late, right on that track?

Alex D., in a cramming daze,
Through the long hours and heavy haze.
Thinking next time they’ll start on time,
Tchu, tchu, tchu-ru-ru, tchu, tchu-ru, rhyme.

4. Thoughts rushing in

Say I forgot, you roll your eyes,
Lost in my thoughts, no big surprise.
ADHD, my mind’s a maze,
Drifting off in different ways.

Every time I try to focus, yeah, I lose my way,
Thoughts spin around in circles, words I meant to say—
Gone astray.
Every time I try to keep up, can’t get thoughts in line,
Ideas interrupt, my head’s a mess, I miss the sign—
Oh, so blind.

Halfway through, I lose the plot,
Trying to recall what I forgot.
I swear I’ll get my story straight,
But every time I’m running late.

ADHD, it’s a wild ride,
Thoughts all twist and turn inside.

5. My Mind is Alive

Last night, my mind was on a roll,
Thoughts spinning fast, out of control.
Got home and wondered what to do,
Should I eat, or clean, or take a snooze?

To watch TV or read a page,
Or maybe start a big upgrade—
Could fold the laundry, then I’m free,
But my head’s too full to let me be.

My mind is alive,
It’s working hard, on overdrive.
Even in silence, thoughts don’t stop,
Ideas just race, they twist and drop.

Some make no sense, they’re wild and new,
But hey, that’s just my brain’s view.
Could paint a wall or make a plan,
Though none of this was in my hand.

Lists in my head start to collide,
I laugh and let the thoughts just ride.

My mind is alive,
It’s working hard, on overdrive.
Even in silence, thoughts don’t stop,
Ideas just race, they twist and drop.
